Life doesn’t slow down when you’re a full-time student, a photographer, and a human trying to show up for the people you love. In this post, I’m sharing how I balance shooting sessions, editing galleries, keeping up with school and field hours, and still carving out time for family and myself. It’s a real look at how I manage it all, the routines that keep me grounded, and the honest advice I’d give anyone trying to juggle a creative business with everyday life. If you’re chasing big dreams while trying to keep your peace, this story is for you.

My Life Behind the Lens

People see the photos on my feed and think I’ve got it all together—shooting weddings, editing galleries, posting sneak peeks, keeping up with school, turning in assignments, getting my field hours done, still being there for my family, and trying to have some sort of social life.

The truth? I’m juggling a lot. But I’m proud of how I balance it, and I want to share exactly how I make it work.

Photography is my passion, but it’s also my job. And when you shoot more than just weddings—seniors, families, couples, branding, newborns—your “slow season” isn’t always slow. Every session has its own vibe, its own workflow, and its own editing marathon. But somehow, through routine and intention, everything finds its place in my life.

How I Actually Make It All Work

Staying honest about my schedule

Between classes, field hours, and assignments, I had to learn to stop overbooking myself. I plan my sessions around school first so I can give my clients my best energy, not what’s left of it.

Editing routines that keep me sane

Editing doesn’t happen “when I get time.” I have specific editing windows—sometimes early morning, sometimes late night. Giving myself structure keeps the queue from feeling overwhelming.

Family time is non-negotiable

Just because I’m busy doesn’t mean my family gets the leftover version of me. Whether it’s a quick dinner or just sitting around talking—I make space for them. Those moments actually recharge my creativity.

Letting myself be a student

I’m in school for a reason. Some days I’m fully a photographer. Some days I’m fully a student. Both matter. Both shape who I’m becoming.

Resting on purpose

Rest is part of my schedule now. I treat it the same way I treat a session—scheduled, protected, and necessary.

ADVICE

What I’ve Learned (My Advice to Anyone Trying to Balance It All)

Give yourself grace. You’re not supposed to be perfect.
Set boundaries even when it feels awkward.
Don’t say yes to every opportunity—choose with intention.
Slow growth is still growth.
Make a routine that fits your life, not someone else’s.
Let people help you instead of carrying everything alone.

Balancing life and creative work doesn’t come from doing more—it comes from being intentional with what you say

Why I Choose This Busy, Beautiful Life

Life is full for me, but it’s meaningful.

Photography lets me connect with people in their happiest, realest moments.

School pushes me toward a career where I get to make a difference.

My family keeps me grounded in who I am and why I chase all this in the first place.

Balancing everything isn’t always easy, but it’s absolutely worth it. You can chase big dreams and still care for yourself. You can build your future and still show up for the present. I’m still figuring it out—one class, one session, and one day at a time—but I’m proud of the life I’m building.

Thanks for being part of my journey. It truly means the world.
